I couldn't really think of anything clever or shocking to call this portion of my website..
Sometimes simple clinches it.
I used to run a library writing club called "Write On!"
Yes, I thought of that name.
Don't shoot me.
I submitted quite a few names to the library manager and it seems the cheesiest one was chosen. Little did I know...
My other submissions...
"All the Write Stuff",
"Mightier Than The Sword",
"Moving Write Along",
"Get This Write"
...and a host of other cliché phrases. Who would have thought the one I threw in last for a joke would win?
I suppose the library wanted to appeal to a certain clientele.
I deferred to the manager acknowledging that she had her finger on the pulse of the community more than I did. (Although she had been the manager for 2 months and came from a completely different district and I had been there for a year and a half - but who's splitting hairs?? It's a corporate thing, I get it.)
So what's happening here?
Here's where I share my on-going or previously published, performed and produced works.
Prose, song lyrics, television and play script excerpts, published article excerpts or whatever I'm working on at the time will appear...
...expect the unexpected.
Some of my work has a decided comedic bend, except my prose and poetry and some of my songwriting. Those are obviously cathartic, purging and touch on that which I find timely.
Some writing is dramatic, and typically that depends on resource material, as is the case of my play based on World War II. Some of THAT is funny, too, but most is poignant, sad and rife with loneliness.
After my grandmother died, I found the letters at the bottom of my her closet. They were tucked away like a dirty secret. Truly the appearance of skeletons in her closet.
The comedy play is based on two dear friend and me in early middle age. Sometimes it's a farce...and sometimes pure melodrama.
So stick around or come back and visit.
It's time to "Turn the Page".
(Damn, there's another one I didn't think of.)
